UV colorants: common questions
What is a UV colorant?
It is a color concentrate for UV-curing coatings and paints. It tints the film without compromising the cure.
What is the difference between a dye and a pigment?
A dye dissolves in the coating and gives translucent color. A pigment stays in suspension and gives opaque color and hiding power.
Can I tint the Top Coat?
Yes. Adding UV colorant to the Top Coat creates colored finishes over the metallization.
What ratio of colorant goes into the coating?
It varies by product and the intensity you want. The technical data sheet gives the recommended range.
Does Corquímica make custom colors?
Yes. Send a sample and the lab will match the color, with samples for approval.
Does the colorant affect UV curing?
Very intense colors may require adjusting the lamp or the film thickness. Testing on the part determines the adjustment.
